Dark green turned ale bowl, painted and hand-carved in simple design, made in Norway circa 1700. Turned wooden pieces were common among the country people; wood was plentiful and many skilled workers had access to the lathe and cutting tools necessary to work the wood. The initials MND are carved in the bottom. Donor: Dorothy Newcomer.en_US
