Bottle of Fru A. Backerus Aegte Kirsebarsaft given to Blanche I.Torgerson by Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen. Amundsen navigated the dirigible Norge that flew over the North Pole in 1926. It landed just north of Nome (at the Eskimo village of Teller, Alaska) and was dismantled there. Blanche Torgerson, of Ethridge, Montana, was teaching in Nome at the time. She was the sister of Mrs. Ludvig Larson, whose husband was on the PLU faculty for many years. Donation includes photographs of Roald Amundsen, Blanche Torgeson, and the dismantling of the "Norge."
